HELLO

jappers07, "...those men and women died in vain..."The one thing which we should have learned from Vietnam is that no amount of additional deaths can in any way vindicate or affirm the lives already wasted in a tragically unnecessary and ill-advised war. 58,209 US servicemen died in Vietnam -- the majority of them AFTER Richard Nixon was elected on a promise to end the war, because idiots like you insisted that more lives should be thrown away for the sake of national pride. Insanity.

i do navy.i also realize that living it is different from those who read it. you have every right to feel the way that you do especially towards fonda. know this though...she did what she thought was right! she openly admits that it was wrong now! that's where youth+freedom=stupidity. in another country she would not have been allowed to do what she did! EVERYONE KNOWS SHE WAS OUT OF LINE... LET IT GO...NOT FOR HER, BUT FOR YOU!

navyman,I flew 173 combat sorties against North Vietnam as part of Rolling Thunder, and I hold the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Medal with 8 oak leafs, the Presidential Outstanding Unit Citation with 2 oak leafs, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 3 battle stars, and I will pit my service record against yours any day of the week.If anyone here needs to learn some respect, it is you.

as a soldier, that is what we used to do. we have new rules now and it is hard. make a big mistake and you might be prosecuted. it is hard when on edge to tell who's who and not hesitate long enough to be killed. todays soldiers have learned from the best of past soldiers and now we have rules to TRY and protect civilians at the same time ...unlike those who kill those trying to help rebuild... or those that were in the towers.

Bay of Pigs was authorized and its implementation was begun under Eisenhower; JFK inherited the operation and wasn't even completely informed it was underway until it had actually begun. He did the only sane thing by refusing to commit US military forces to support the refugees, who were poorly led and militarily incompetent. |
