OCD is ridiculously misunderstood. This guy and most of you posting do not have OCD. There is a great amount o f anxiety and "rituals" involved, not just thinking about hurting someone or a tree that you can't stop thinking about.

and you, 6stringmonster, you know shit nothing. i have OCD and it is NOT bad habits. with OCD, I wont just repeatedly check things like u mite, i will check them again and again becoming more distressed and panicked each time, ill start thinking of awful things that could happen, i find it hard to leave the house for fear of it burning down. 'bad habits' is you picking your fucking nose or checking your locks. ocd is constantm destroying fear.

religion and sex are the two things formally identified as causing intrusive thought for OCD--its just basically the germ thing, except mental dirt. oddly enough, they were the only ocd traits i never suffered from.

That is so true, religion deos fuel the OCD, when I was younger, kids would use to say "step on a crack you'll break your mommas back" that really messed me up. I would try to avoid every crack on my way home, and if I mistakingly step on one I would spend hours begging God to keep my mom safe. If I would think of anything sexual, I would beg God for forgivness because, I always had this feeling that God will kill me and send me to hell.

a long time ago we had "bad habbits" now its called "ocd" so that the government can charge money for medication. when you let your bad habbits get out of control, society calls it "ocd". bull crap.

My advice is to talk to loved ones about this, showing them this video would no doubt help, especially if you don't want to tell them personally. After my first appointment with the doctor, I felt so much better, knowing that many people suffer from OCD. I'd advise you to do the same-They won't have you committed or anything, it doesn't work like that. But they will do their best to help. Best of luck to you, I hope you start feeling better soon

This is a great video. I have OCD and I feel exactly this way. Every day I count all the windows in the house. I have to take three baths. One soap, one shampoo, one rinse. Its weird. I'm struggling. "detached, Im detached from everything, except my one thought. My though is never bright or sunny, but mist and snow. THE DARK IS STRONG IN ME!!!"

i have ocd it started out as making sure all the doors in the house were shut. then when i moved i started washing my hands a lot and making sure the stove was off and the door was locked and the dogs were safe. those symptoms are now being replaced with thoughts of hurting myself and others.

Relationship & bank statements told the same story 'til I got rid of it.1: Write down when/where you are having the worst symptoms.2: If OCDs are related to people around you, confront them.3: Tell your friends.4: As long as it doesn't hurt anyone/yourself, DO the opposite of what the OCD "wants" you to.5: TELL the OCD you don't need it in your life. Kick its ass. Since it's part of your psyche, it will listen.6: MediTate. Calm your mind. Be positive.

I experimented with the thought that OCD might be a kind of bipolar disorder. (When your mind divides so you get two personalities), and the OCD is the part separate from your normal self. Whenever I felt OCD-symptoms I yelled (out loud if alone) "I'M HAVING A SILLY OCD!" It was almost like the OCD part of me got embarrased and silenced. Great! |
