They wrote this song after they saw a movie which i believe is called "Johnny has a gun" or something similar to that. a guy in WW2 stepped on a land mine and everything went wrong; blinded, deafened, rendered speechless, and arms and legs gone. the video for this song has clips from that movie in it.
