ahh i see, thanks. lol yea i guess it's like askin the usefulness of tennis and football :P
Voiv (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Its a sport which has developed from a fighting style, the similarities are quite hard to see nowadays. But its purpose right now is athletic competition, you may as well be asking what the usefulness of football or tennis is.

wats the usefulness in fencing? i mean whats the history behind it? was it a real sword style? cuz while it has such reach advantage what can such thin, weak blade do to a protective armor? or shields for that matter.
Voiv (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Oh and also, just remembered, this is 2004 back when flicking was easier to achieve (the timings changed, and the amount of time the tip needs to be pressed down for increased) So I suppose the foils were probably maybe more geared towards flickiness
Voiv (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Its not that their foils/epees are so bendy, its just that their arms are so strong and their moving them so fast that they move much more then someone who doesn't do that much
TentacleSex (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
the end one was super cool
STOPm3323 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Well yes and noFoil is much or flexible that an EpeeAnd these high rollers have the highest quality of blade that is incredibly light and flexible
protiiooi (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
do the olympic fencers have more bendy swords? my sword can't seem to bend enough to do a flick no matter how hard i try.
schokoprinz (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
ganeev's flick to the back at 1:48 is gorgeous. i mean going around his arm, thats incredible.

you should watch epee fencing.. it's quite different, it's the heaviest weapon and isn't as flimsy as foil
