reed338 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
he called the white guy who came out at the begining, "my boy" seems to me thats just something he says, not in a rasict way

The drummer totally has a Barack Obama thing going on.

its hard to believe that he only died three years later... What a great man, Bird

I love how Bird's technique is sooo perfect. If you watch his fingers during his solo... They hardly move from the keys.

The racism issue has already been addressed in the comments, what I'm most happy with however, is that Bird and Dizzy were mature enough to deal with it so performances like this would be filmed so people like us could truly appreciate it.

"Saori Yano" plays like bird. She's one of the best living jazz sax players I've heard so far

you should never call a grown man "boy" or grown men "boys" unless you know them well.
SwerdyJazz (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I don't think he said 'Boys' with racist connotations implied. It was more of a general term used in a passing way. Although, im from a modern day society where the term 'Boys' is now accepted, back in the 50's it did have racial undertones.
