Understood that innovation and research costs big bucks and therefore a monopoly to redeem the costs is warranted. What is wrong is how big pharma can manipulate the FDA and the U.S. patent office into extended monopoly because everybody knows that beauracracies are ineffecient and it is less paperwork to say yes than to say know. So we have drugs that aren't generic because the producer changed the color of the pill and we have to pay out our ass for another 10 years.

I don't understand why in a day where people live much longer then they ever have, in large part due to these medications, we make the pharmaceutical companies out to be villians? All of their reseach is at a cost. To bring a drug to market there is a cost. Drugs never reach the market cost money. We have to get over this feeling of free healthcare being a right.

This is the ethics of big pharma--profit at any cost. This means promoting drugs that do more harm than good, lying about the results of their own tests to governments, using poor populations as guinea pigs. The American govt. says Wackenhut developed the AIDS virus to effect genocide in Africa. This guy whines about the generic drug companies undercutting them while he gleefully describes the wealthy aging people who may need "multiple therapies." Herbs are more effective and less dangerous.

Medical Patents in third world countries, don't make my laugh. People who pursue that should be sacked! :)
