Yeah it is sampled out of Purple rain. From the very end of the song where the musicians are just riffing, the keyboard player plays that melody for about 7 seconds. Alicia took that 7 seconds, or so, and stretched it out for the whole song. I thought it was a briliiant idea, for whoever thought to do that!
