Yes, Elsa Lanchester was the nanny in the beginning that left. She was also in Bell, Book & Candle with Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak.

The poison pellet bit is one of the best.I can still recall it after 40 years.Loved his kids album from the 60's.

There are many biographies that reveal a star to be less angelic than the characters they have portrayed, or for some to be of a kind disposition but typecast as a ruthless villain, but somehow I cannot believe that Danny Kaye could ever be described as "overbearing"
