it doesnt have to be directly up. it has to be less than 45 degrees and sometimes schlager gets faulted but not often

excepting the side/top-spin serve (as Wang Liqin's), Schlager has the most amazing serves in the world. Practice makes good! Just watch his matches against Samsonov, and compare their serves! Samsonov sucks! It's amazing, because he uses Bryce/Bryce, blade Schlager Carbon. Just try to imagine a Tackifire Special Soft on that impressive forehand!!!
