I think you want to hear that it's because they're sick, or have some sort of death-fetish. The best answer is: People die every day, and will keep dying. It's a lucrative business. Plus, you're helping out people, and the community by doing it. Gotta get paid 'yo!

arequipa, would you say the same about funeral directors/embalmers? How about tissue recovery specialists? They can be downright nasty jobs as well. How about the medical examiner who has to determine cause of death on a maggot infested body? These guys are just cleaning the "stuff" up, they generally don't have to spend alot of time with the corpse. So, is there something wrong with the people in these other jobs?

A family or insurance company can be ripped off big time by certain companies who do this work. Be very careful in your time of grief that you do not end up spending tens upon tens of thousands of dollars. You CAN shop around. Let your fingers do the walking in the yellow pages.

Takes more than a strong stomach. If you're the type of person that starts feeling suicidal, depressed, and begins having nightmares of death after being exposed to corpses, this job obviously will ruin you. You can be severely traumatized from stuff like this.

i think that instead of the death penalty, we should take inmates (murderers, rapists, kid touchers and whatnot) and train them to do the jobs that no one wants to do, like this one. make them work for the tax dollars that they're using up .. this is a far worse punishment than the electric chair, as far as i'm concerned.

what doesn't make sense to you may make sense to someone else, just because society might frown upon and are disgusted by people who want to do such a job does not entitle them to be unbalanced either, they could be merely interested and have the stomach. many popular bands to a under soicety community love using themes and lyrics for such topics (though i know this does't give credit to the actual job)

well, i can tell you i definitely don't flip burgers, not that it's any of your business or concern. i'm not looking down on the people that do this. i'm just completely confused as to why anyone would look on this job like it's glamorous ("ooh! i would get to clean up dead bodies all day! how edgy and hardcore!") because some of those same naive knuckleheads are posting in this thread. like i said, i'm not looking down on the people who actually DO it for a living. i'm glad they're there.

ya, i know it has to be done. but my point is to WANT to do a job like this seems to me like it would mean you're unbalanced. i understand doing a job because you've got a strong stomach and the pay is good. but to aspire toward this job doesn't make a whit of sense to me. who would WANT to spend all day surrounded in gore and carcasses? answer me that. |
