Who in the hell is comparing Brann to Travis Barker...??!? I'm no drummer, but bloody hell son. The time signatures and constant thunder coming from Brann's set doesn't even belong on the same scale as Barker's 4/4 wankness... shit's weak!

The beginning of this song is epic. Siff compare this to Dragonforce btw.

im here to hate on dragonforce but they pretty much suck. ive seen them live, i saw their set but missed mastodon's back at mayhem fest, i was pissed. DF doesnt sound anything like their album stuff, i mean nowhere close. its almost like its speed about about 25% on the albums.

yeh- dragonforce are talented but have 1 trick- speed.their songs are way too long n repetitive, could never listen to a whole album cos it all sounds the same.Mastodon on the other hand are full-on but very smart and prog-rock in their arrangements. the are damn good musicians and have managed to create interesting music thats still heavy and intense.im not a metal fan, but i like metal / hc bands that push the envelope- these, dillinger, refused, meshuggah, botch etcetc

People wank off to Dragonforce but this is crazier stuff. I'm new to Mastodon, but I'm liking it more and more... I love their time signatures. Their music is a sonic wall, unbelievable. And the drummer is a madman. Cray-zay!

It's not a flash it's a heart with the Mastodon logo on it on a blue watery background

Brann Dailor is uncomparable to Travis Barker.SORRY.I guess he's a nice guy and a decent drummer in his own right but I highly doubt he do anything in alternate time signatures like that one riff that goes from 7/8 to 6/8 that keeps happening (musicians know where im talking about)...another good song from a great band.peace

Thats what I mean. Crack The Skye is basically Brent's "vision incarnate". He promised they will still continue on making the heavy stuff, though.

fucking greatness, i just recently started listenin to mastodon, and i already fell in love with them. metal and mastodon FTW

well thats a quarter of the band then, and it still doesn't mean that the first albums weren't the real band; that's the music they made it's what they are. if you mean this is the real vision that they had in mind when they started, i can't speak for all of 'em but i reckon all their albums were what they were going for at the time |
