Gadd is good. I'm more a Weckl, Donati fan, but Gadd is unreal in his own right. He is pretty much a living legend so I think we should all just enjoy the man's music and marvel at what is.Now, where to throw these drum sticks and where to pick up a good used trumpet! LOL

Sorry, I correct myself. None of us should tell Gadd how to play drums.

Stalliec, in my opinion you, and no one of us can tell us how to play the drums. Besides that, music is art. Gadd has such a great level technically and artistically. If you can reach Gadd, then go and tell him, what is "right or wrong" (in your language, obviously).

I was being sarcastic - I'm a long and major Gadd fan and get tired of all the nit-picky technical comments on YouTube, so thought I'd throw out a sarcastic one and see how excited my fellow drummers could get :) Sorry to alarm you :)

What are you talkin' about? First he isn't playin' paradiddles at 2:27 but a simple double stroke on bass drum alternating with both hands (singles), second: in the typical 16th samba maneer...and third: this lick kicks hard! Furthermore please verify if Gadd is only doin' an "ok job". I'm not the biggest fan of Gadd (question of taste) but he deserves all our deepest respect. His energy is quite amazing!

Maybe when he was born, the word "chick" did not imply a girl...I personally think that word is derogatory, though. Oh, by the way, Steve Gadd, amazing.

Gadd does an ok job, but at 2:27 where he chooses to use inverted paradiddle-diddles with the accent on the "ah" of each alternating 16ths, I feel it gives the sole a discordonant or imbalanced syncopation which could be easily corrected by instead choosing a straight six-stroke roll pattern with the accent on the "and" of each 16th, thus resolving the root samba feel. Other than that, it's a descent drum solo, all things considered.
