force businesses to share some of the vast wealth with the people that help produce it. American businesses take in trillions of dollars every year. Is it too much to ask that they share a pittance of it with the people responsible to bringing it to them? We've all read or heard stories of executives with multi-million dollar bonuses, even with companies that lose money. A few dollars extra per hour for the poorest of the poor shouldn't hurt that much.

Businesses have more power to abuse the labor market. History shows that businesses left unchecked will abuse their power. Why do you think labor organizations like the Teamsters, United Auto Workers, AFL-CIO, etc. have come into existence? A tight job market, especially during recessions, give citizens the choice of accepting the terms of business or starving. A minimum wage gives business a reasonable floor that should be paid for the labor of others, whether skilled or unskilled.

I'll translate, because he is speaking in "Too much Vodka" language.Translation: Why can't we increase unemployment, WHY WHY WHY!!! Why can't we pass the most anti-minority law in the land--the min. wage law!!! WHY WHY!!! Why can't you guys just pass this law, so that I can look like an altruist. WHY WHY!! Why can't I get another Vodka Tonic!!!! WHY WHY!!!

it has been argued that unions and strikes were not necessary. (In June 2008, however, the municipal government in Shenzhen in southern China introduced draft labour regulations, which labour rights advocacy groups say would, if implemented, virtually restore Chinese workers' right to strike. Most other totalitarian systems of the left and right also ban strikes. At one point Stalin remarked that unions were completely unnecessary, as workers would be striking against themselves

to the idiot that sent me a message saying "unions are communist"remember In "Marxist-Leninist" regimes, such as the former USSR or the People's Republic of China, striking is illegal and viewed as counter-revolutionary. Since the government in such systems claims to represent the working class,

with overtime pay like min wage it must stay a law that after 40 hrs an employer must pay you time and a half for a few reasons,1. the company now shows a profit/increase in work load witch in turn is more money coming into a company, workers makeing products should share in that.2. motivation to work. after 40 hrs people want more of a cut to stay productive
