That was one of the most awesome calls ive ever heard!

I agree with Ruffian4ever, I'd rather ride and train my own horse then give to any other person. And if my horse has a chance of getting hurt, then I won't race, call me a scardy cat but I care about horses, not just the dopes who care about winning. Curlin is awesome, and if he doesn't win, so what? He's still a beautiful goregous horse who loves to run, and has good owners to let him do it

wow! what a race by curlin and street sense, they have soo much heart!!!and big brown is a great three year old hes proved that, and dutrow's a good trainer. cant wait till the breeders cup classic

Big Brown beat who as a 3YO???
saveus228 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Big Brown also never beat a horse 1/4th as good as Street Sense or Lawyer Ron.

agreed. Winning isn't everything. I wouldn't pump my horse full of roids just to win a couple of races. Much like the disdain for Barry Bonds, it's a hollow victory to artificially enhance peroformance.

Winning isnt worth it when you kill your horse doing it. Wouldnt you want your horse to come back sound to race again? If not you would be out a shit load of money. The reason I dont like Big Brown because of "Dicktrow" and IEAH-nothing but arrogant pricks talking out of their ass. And Big Brown is nowhere near Curlin-BB has beat a bunch of nobodies! And this year running the Breeders Cup DIRT races on SYNTHETIC is crap-it really pisses me off. Totally different surface-not dirt, not turf.

If winning isn't everything in horse racing, why do they race? This isn't T-ball. I get it, it's cool to not like Big Brown, but when BB runs in the BCC and Curlin is no where to be found, who will talk of legacy? If Curlin is truly the best horse, which he could be, why should surface matter? He is awesome, I've stood five feet from him at CHD, but Big Brown is no joke. BTW, Dutrow also had half as many starts as Pletcher did at the Saratoga meet this year and made 3/4 of the $ as Pletcher.
Ruffian4Ever (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
As far as the monetary standpoint, Asmussen and Pletcher are kicking his ass. Even if Dutrow was the best trainer, I still wouldnt send my horse there. I want my horse to be healthy and happy...winning isnt everything. Plus, all of his arrogant and ignorant comments just degrade the name and "legacy" of his horses. And Dutrow's success is only because he has IEAH as an owner and he hasnt pissed them off too bad yet.
coccoroccio (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
From a win percentage and a montetary perspective, there are very few who can beat Rick Dutrow. For example, Dutrow is clobbering Zito and Baffert this year. Only the likes of Kiaran McGlaughin, Christophe Clemente, Linda Rice and his own brother are near him on the NY circuit. Also, I am pretty sure that if you owned the horse Dutrow was training, you wouldn't have to race it twice in 24 hrs after all, it is yours. I wouldn't go blaming him entirely. He is a jerk, but the horse is yours
