He's an average way,way over rated drummer. That time he went through 26 snare drums to find "The right Sound" OMG..He is the product of Luck and being in the right place at the right time period ! "A solid time keeper" is code for (Friend)

Look, he's playing with big time rock bands making more dough than all you, and me put together. I think Slash knows a solid time keeper when he heres one. You guys should grow some balls and try to make as a pro.

lgeoghegan (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
he can't play jazz to save his life, this shit isnt jazz, it's some hack playing crap rock beats to a jazz backing band
Charactereyes (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I disagree; he is CLEARLY not hitting the crashes with the tip on the bow of the cymbal. Watch again at 3:31 - look at him hitting the crashes on the edge and sending the whole cymbal into motion... You are indeed right hobo649; the video does not match the audio. Those are ride cymbal hits off the same ride he was riding on most of the song.

Okay, so what that Matt Sorum is a drummer from The Cult later to be drummer in GnR's.Versatility!!!! Just because you heard him as a RnR drummer doesn't mean he can't play the jazz. Just listen to his drumming in November Rain.... and you have both jazz and blues!
lgeoghegan (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
why the fuck is this guy playing to jazz? he has no swing at all, he's just playing crappy rock beats that a 6 year old can playfaggot.
gildpatl (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Matt has a nice groove going is having fun playing to the song. He might not have the fastest chops around, but drumming is more that just speed. Look at his expression at the end of the song. |
