Ok to spell a few things out..The lever is pushed on a UK gallows and never done from a standing position as the hangman has just bent to remove the safety cotter pin from the mechanism.Female prisoners where pinioned with a strap around the wrists, then once on the gallows one around the skirt (for decency) and one around the lower legs just above the ankle.The UK noose was formed with a brass eyelet and didnt use a knot.

Don't think so; the lever is pulled and that's about it, by the looks of it.

This is actually a New Zealand TV production, but I agree that it has much more in common with the US method of hanging than the British experience. As New Zealand was a colony of the British Empire at the time, I'm fairly sure they would have observed the British method rather than that practiced in the US.

Theres so much wrong with this that its hard not to laugh.. from the pinioning to the noose used.. its all done the american way not the british way.

This is good. The woman acts well as she moves from fear to panic. Do we get to see the actual drop anywhere ?
