British submarines were sent in to the Sea of Marmora as part of the Allied strategy for defeating Turkey. The main task of the British submarines in the Sea of Marmora was to create havoc by disrupting the supply lines of the Turks in the area. Any supply ship that ventured out into the waters of the Dardanelles became an obvious target.
