No, that's a stupid assumption. It's true that they exist in the same universe, but the assumption you make is stupid. I might as well say that Diablo and Deckard Cain exist in Starcraft because both games are Blizzard games.

Portal and Half life are in the same universe, Don't believe me go to the Half life wikia! And they are relivant to each other, in Half Life Ep 2 borealis, a ship made by Aperture science!

well since both portal and half life are made by the same company (VALVE) it's a safe assumption that appature and black mesa existed in the same universe.

If anyone has played Half life 2: Episode 2, you would know that at the end of it they mention Aperture Science. Also in Portal near the end where your go inside the offices, you will see a room showing a competition chart between Aperture and Black Mesa, so my theory is that Portal takes place a few years before Half life, but if you think about it, Half life 2 has portals (transporter if you wish)in the and end HL2 and HL2:E2. (The combine use them to transport the aliens.)

but aperture science is in the same universe, though it is not known what time portal takes place... so portal could have happened before during or after and we will never know unless it is mentioned in portal two... |
