True, but the other people are just as bad. The current generation (My generation) want everybody to be only a specific type of person, one thing. No true human being is just a goth, or a punk, or a rocker, or whatever, they're more than that. This song is about being just like anybody, not just a complete conformist. It's about the people who try to suck the individuality out of you, to make you easier to control. For example, Psychologists. (Did I say that out loud? XP)

ANY extreme is bad.If you spend the whole day studying and don't have a circle of friends maybe you'll be a successful person,with a good job and a lot of money but you'll be incomplete in certain areas or you can spend the whole day playing video games,"getting high" and you'll be a bum sucking the governmet breast or working in jobs that no one wants to do.
