Whell....agreed,but....what I don't understand, all those"punks" then, rapping about those"pompous" boring old farts;yet,in those times some of the best music was created;granted,by '76there was much shite about (like now & always)no one can stay brilliant all the time.ByTheWay....SHE wasn't out of date.I'm a "rockist" anyway •♫•☺

@PaulLonden: Oh come on oldtimer, ppl younger than you (& me :p) might not understand why the 'lo-fi' sound of this combo (+ Television, Talking Heads & others at the time) sounded refreshing back in those pompous times, but calling Patti Smith Group out of date in '76??? Apart from Sohl they weren't (yet) great musicians then, but have ANYONE thrived on the edge longer than Lenny Kaye and Ivan Kral, who painted beautiful frames to everyone from Suzanne Vega to Iggy Pop in decades after this?

Patti is 1 of the greatest and most passionate performers in music history; she inspired a generation and does to this day; I am also a Pistols fanatic and will play both their stuff til the day I die; when Lydon made the famous statement he was an obnoxious kid that would say anything to get a rise but I would bet that he knows right now just how great Patti was and still is, almost 4 decades laterI am thankful that I got to see them both dozens of times.
