Good point - yes, I believe Tudor Dobre was in that class also. And I'm sure there were others. The ones I listed were the perhaps most well known players of the era. From what I heard, Tudor Dobre didn't achieve the same level of success as the others, but still - an excellent player.That is what I heard.

Thank you for posting this! This is a priceless piece of musical history. Fanica Luca was THE authority responsible for what we today know as the modern romanian nai, my favorite instrument.

Alright - I could be wrong on some of this, and if I am, someone can correct me.Fanica Luca's class had the following students in it: Damian Luca,Damian Carlanaru, Constantin Dobre, Radu Constantin, Radu Simion, Nicolae Pîrvu, Gheorghe Zamfir, Constantin Popescu, Mamaia LicaAbout this photo, I am sure only about Gheorghe Zamfir, Nicolae Pirvu, Fanica Luca, and Damian Luca.You can sort it out for yourselves:)

Also, Constantin Popescu is in this photo - he was the original builder of Zamfir's panflutes. If I am correct about which of the 2 short-haired gentleman is Damian Luca, then Constantin Popescu is the other one - the one standing in front of Gheorghe Zamfir.In summary, I do know that the 2 short haired players are Damian Luca and Constantin Popescu, I just don't know which one is which:)Sorry about the confusion.

From thee looks of the facial features, I think Damian Luca is the one to the left of Fanica Luca. But he is definitely in this photo. |
