It is very interesting...When using a sword or stick, my teachers emphasized precise stabbing as the preferred method to kill.The Samurais of ancient Japan had a sound philosophical preference for using the point to kill more than the edge of a weapon. It was seen as more legitimate by them.Sword fighting in most forms (except fencing) tend to over use the sword as a club. My teacher training me with a spear against a sword helped to break me of that habit.

It is an interesting art form... I did notice there are a lot of sweeping motions, but not much stabbing. Perhaps in the more advanced forms there are...
