i'm not really sure about that one, but i guessing its to make punches to the ears and such slide off easier to lessen the damage, but again, i'm not really sure.

its cauliflower ear, alot of wrestlers and grapplers get it. it happens when your ear suffers a hard blow and fluid will collect in the ear, killing the cartilage, so it get permanently deformed like that.
