I agree. She wasn't trying to be glamorous for this role - Wendy is a homely, frumpy housewife, nothing more. If she's a little annoying, keep in mind that Jack obviously dislikes her and perhaps Duvall was trying to show why...because she's frail, weak, blubbering, and not terribly smart--although she manages to get the best of Jack several times. Their loveless marriage has turned into outright hatred and hostility.
