Amfortas1985 you are right ... Dieskau cannot express the emotions like Quasthoff does it in this recording. If you watch the Erlkönig instead Dieskau does a perfect job...Schubert is in my opinion a little bit better than others, much more famous composers... he was great

In my opinion this is the better way to sing schubert and it's much better than Fischer-Dieskau! It's nearly perfect! So the world is not always in agreement... ;-Nevertheless we all enjoy this wonderful song by schubert :-)

I think the world will ever be in agreement that Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau was the undisputed master of the Lied. That said, this is not bad from Mr. Quasthoff. He is pretty much amazing.

Grandissimo Quasthoff! Peccato per Barenboim, qui forse non ai suoi livelli.Comunque bellissimo!!!!

Is it just me or we all agree that his face looks like Jack Nicholson's face as the joker. Add some make up and you've got the Joker from the movie Batman! No offense here.

this sucks ass! Not even close to Fischer Dieskau magnificent rendition.I think Dieskau has laughed his ass off while listening to this rubbish

What a rich, deep, powerful voice and such delicate, melodious background provided by the piano . . . WONDERFUL! . . . Definitely one of the best I've heard.

My god he has such a beautiful voice.

On googling I see he'll be part of the big Mahler cycle at Carnegie Hall this spring with Barenboim (he'll be doing Kindertotenlieder on the 6th of May). That could be great!
