Imagine this. While we are looking at these pictures we are actually observing the past. These systems and galaxies are millions of light years away. Since nothing travels faster than the speed of light it takes millions of years for our eyes and telescopes to see the current states of these galaxies. Observing a million years into the past... tell me that doesnt blow your mind dude.
