As long as you listen for the chord changes, and you know the head...you can play anything...Jazz is meant to be unique every time. My boyfriend plays guitar and he played the real guitarist (reel, real?? hhmm), which was originally a bossa nova, but he played it faster as a samba, and it kicked ASS! I love it! :)

this is great but nothing will ever beat the original on dial, him and bird together...priceless. what i'll never get is why so few other recordings put as much emphasis on and/or end with the interlude

That's the thing about Jazz, being loose... and this is written in the real book u can just change it with some adjustments but u can still hear the night in Tunisia...

Thanks. I meant 1991 as the possible year of the Jazz Festival. I lived in Seattle 1990-1991, so it was around that time. Yes, just two years or so before his death.
