Yes, but the only military tactic they used was the Phalanx (They don't do it in 300) and by Caesar's time that tactic became obsolete, fighting skill cannot save a bad tactic.

That's not true at all. Historically, the Spartans are regarded as the fiercest warrior culture ever produced by men. The entire male inventory was born and bred to fight -- and to die.

The Roman Legions commanded by Julius Caesar would have annihilated them. (Although that was a good 500 years later).

you do have to admire the tenacity in which the spartans trained their people from a young age to serve the nation and not themselvesboth girls and boys

Didn't say it wasn't a major upset, just trying to spread some knowledge. Don't know about Alexander spreading light to the eastern world though, but whatever.

5-6000 came to help 300 stood their ground, NO? Even if all stood their ground, what is that number compared to 250,000.00 ? You cannot stand a Chance. But 300 stood their ground to the last man is the testament and the Glory of Sparta ! Alexander gave light to the Eastern part of the unforsaken world, with his Hellenic Heritage and Knowledge and he stood his ground also as the best of the best. Leonidas Kahunas along with his soldiers showed us that no-one shall give into Tyranny!
Stealthsuit07 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Actually, in reality, they were 5-11000 against 200000, but only 300 of them were spartan, yes.
