Sara Bareilles in San Francisco - Gravity

I have to admit that when I went to see the Aqualung show at The Fillmore, I wasn't sure what to expect from the opener. Experience has shown that most of the time, these opening acts are just "okay", but nothing to get too excited about. Fact is, I had never even heard of Sara Bareilles before. So when she walked out alone onto the stage, I wasn't anticipating anything special. And then something amazing happened. She opened her mouth to sing...and this incredible voice softly drifted into my ears. I was stunned...blown away. I don't remember much about that first song, other than the way it caught me completely off guard. It was just a simple solo number, but I was mesmerized. Her band joined her onstage afterwards, and they proceeded to play a fantastic set. At one point, they performed an unbelievable cover of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes". And before you know it, her set was over, and she was walking off the stage. But her music, and that incredible voice stayed with me through the next day. I couldn't even remember her name, but was able to find it by reading over the Aqualung Tour Diary. From there it was simple enough to find her web site ( http://www.sarabmusic.com ) and MySpace page ( http://www.myspace.com/sarabar... ).And that's one of the wonderful things about music, and why I love to see a live show. Just when you think you've heard it all before. Just when you think there's nothing new or exciting to look forward to. That's when you make discoveries like this one, and find someone who touches you in a way that reminds you why you love music so much.This young woman is a real talent, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from her in the future. This was the final number of her set, and was filmed 10 May 2007 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA. I almost didn't think to tape this song. I was so busy enjoying her set, I almost forgot to capture something to share later.
