Why Won't McCain Sign the GI Bill?

http://therealmccain.com/gibil... with unprecedented filibusters, the only way to ensure Senate passage of the GI Bill is to get 60 co-sponsors. So far, John McCain has refused. The same McCain who insists he supports our troops. The same McCain who is voting lockstep with the Bush administration (who have also resisted this bill). We need to get John McCain to lead -- to sign now and signal to other Republican leaders that we should be strongly behind our vets. Sign the petition demanding John McCain sign on as a co-sponsor to The Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act (S.22 & H.R.2702): http://therealmccain.com/gibil...

I'm hesitant to believe you because I'm sure 'most active duty people' aren't so self-important as to call those who serve as reservists just half as committed, as if they are lesser humans. If all of these veterans coming back are having trouble making ends meet does that mean that they clearly weren't 'real' soldiers?

Sorry, but when will we be seeing this bill? People are suffering now while you imagine the senator deep in thought about his 'super-GI bill'.

errrrh. wrong answer. My balance is $9K right now. My last class, (UMUC) cost $650 3SH. $9000/$650 = 13 You could take 13 classes per year. You could knock out an undergrad w/o touching your Mont. GI Bill. It has been done. Why are we still talking about this? They never fricking said they would pay for everything.

VAkraut I served 86-91 1st Gulf War. You are WAY off base with your figures you are probably a recruiter sitting at your desk bullshittn. Yes you do receive money but it is always late and only covers the cost of a community college-a cheap one! During my time in service I was paid less than a waitress the least they can do is give people who have served and lived through it and even paid into the GI BILL a sufficient amount. Everything has gone up asshole cost of tuition, books, supplies!

Only a POG would have time to get a degree while they were in the service. I was deployed so much I didn't get a chance to take any classes. With the GI Bill how it stands now, you can't get a decent education without supplementary income. I don't understand why you so vehemently argue against veterans getting more benefits. Based on your user name, it looks like you're a vet. Thanks for the stab in the back.

Mccain is a war veteran and supports the iraw war yet doesn't even want to sign the bill? Ridiculous. What I also don't like is that a bill got passed in california (prop 2) that states animals should have bigger cages, yet this war veteran prop didn't get passed? When did we care about chickens having a larger cage than about our war veterans? Why do we want Mccain to be president when he is just gonna be another Bush, why do we want all those pointless things yet fail to pass the good props.

The GI Bill is not a social program. It is not supposed to set you up "after the service" It is to help with retention, help you become a more professional servicemember. Not pay your electric bill. And for dumbnewfilms to tool these misinformed soldiers for a political ad is disgusting. They already spend ample amount of funding on it now. I highly recommend any funding should be spent on rehabing the wounded vets that are coming back by the 1000s. They haven't even scratched the surface there.

I am criticizing because these guys did receive the GI Bill. It is substantial. You put in $1200 ($100x12mos) and receive $34,800Meanwhile, you can also take advantage of tuition assistance program which covers 100% tuition, up to $9,000 a year. The one guy who was in for 8 years could receive over 100K in educational benefits and he cries because he wants more. These idiots at bravedumbfilms give some misinformation about the GI Bill, get em pissed, and they go on camera (cont.)

Why are you critisizing their point of views? they were promised, they served, they got screwed.
