a cataract is an occlusion of the eye (the cloudy stuff you see in the beginning). This is actually one of the oldest surgeries in history; hence, why it's completed so quickly. You actually have to get under the lens of the eye to remove it. After the occlusion is removed, an artificial lens is placed on top of the pupil. The patient is awake, but is anesthesized. It's actually a very easy surgery. |
