Those are 16mm shots, it's supposed to represent the pre existing relationships between the characters, Mean Steets is a film about a neighborhood, all the characters are from that neighborhood, therefor they've probably known each other from childhood. The intro isn't post Mean Streets, it's infact pre Mean Streets.

Great film, great song, great intro.This intro actually clears up the ending, I'm pretty sure this intro takes place after the shooting at the end of the film, you can see that Charlie and Teresa had a baby and have gotten married and you can see Jhonny Boy at the wedding I think, If this is the case it means Jhonny boy did not die after he was shot. |
