It is credited to James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich.Metallica - WhiplashWhiplash is about the feeling one experiences when headbanging. ("...thrashing all around, acting like a maniac, whiplash!..")Trivia * Often in concert, James will change the original lyric from "But we'll never stop, we'll never quit, 'cause we're Metallica" to "But we'll never stop, we'll never quit, 'cause you're Metallica" emphasizing that it is the fans who've made Metallica what they are. * It may well be a tribute to Motörhead. The song has a similar theme to that band's track "(We Are) The Road Crew", particularly the final verse's lyrics. * In live performances, Jason Newsted often sang for part or all of the song, notably in recorded footage in San Diego, California. * He also sang it without James Hetfield on the stage 14 July 2000 in 3Com Park San Francisco. James was having a beer while Kirk Hammet, Jason and Lars Ulrich performed. * In live performances Kirk Hammet and James Hetfield used to play different solos at the same time, achieving harmony at some points * In 2005, Motörhead won their first Grammy for the cover of this song on a Metallica tribute album. * Whiplash is also on Tony Hawk's Underground 2. * It was covered by Billy Milano, Scott Ian, Philip Soussan, and Vinny Appice for Metallic Assault: A Tribute to Metallica. * Pantera, using the joke name "Pantallica", performed the song live with Jason Newsted on bass, and members Dimebag Darrell (guitar) and Philip Anselmo (vocals) switching instruments.WHIPLASHLate at night, all systems go, you've come to see the showWe do our best, you're the rest, you make it real, you knowThere is a feeling deep inside that drives you fucking madA feeling of a hammerhead, you need it oh so badAdrenaline starts to flowYou're thrashing all aroundActing like a maniacWhiplashBang your head against the stage like you never did beforeMake it ring, make it bleed, make it really soreIn a frenzied madness with your leather and your spikesHeads are bobbing all around, it's hot as hell tonightAdrenaline starts to flowYou're thrashing all aroundActing like a maniacWhiplashHere onstage the Marshall noise is piercing through your earsIt kicks your ass, kicks your face, exploding feeling nearsNow's the time to let it rip, to let it fucking looseWe're gathered here to be with you 'cause this is what we chooseAdrenaline starts to flowYou're thrashing all aroundActing like a maniacWhiplashThe show is through, the metal's gone, it's time to hit the roadAnother town, another gig, again we will explodeHotel rooms and motorways, life out here is rawBut we'll never stop, we'll never quit, 'cause we're MetallicaAdrenaline starts to flowYou're thrashing all aroundActing like a maniacWords and Music by James Hetfield and Lars UlrichCopyright © 1983 Creeping Death Music (ASCAP)International Copyright Secured All Rights Reserved

instead of just saying "wrong" someone who was smart would tell me WHY. too bad i wont give you that chance. heres why i said what i said:Metallica was formed on the hatred they had for all hair/glam metal bands making softer music such as power ballads that werent metal. this was the down is Thrash Metal which was supposed to be 100% metal 100% of the time. by making softer music and selling out they contradicted the basis of their band AND the very genre they created!! yer move bubbles...

metallica is NOT the most awesome band in the world their one of the worlds biggest sell-outs.and one of their biggest songs [Ride The Lightning]...i dont wanna say its a "cover" but it technically isnt THEIR song. it should belong to Megadeth.
