oh, yeah, she said during the video that she grew up in hong kong cause her father was teaching school there and she went to school with other little chinese kids....so she is a native speaker

wow...I had to blink a couple times to make sure that she didn't have black hair, brown eyes, and almond eyes....and then I'm like shit, this woman is not asiananywho, this is really cool....now I need to double my efforts to teach my friends some bit of cantonese (I think they've picked up 'puk gai' fairly well...that's about it though, lol)

i see the point your making, but if you think about it, the world is english, you have to speak it if you want to get along in the modern world. A person of western origion speaking any form of chinese is considered rare

@sdkoWing,Does it matter if there are "few white women picking up Cantonese"?? Your ethnicity doesn't qualify you to better learn a language. Your upbringing and background does. So what if the "millions" I'm referring too are "Chinese in appearance" (I suspect you mean ethnic Chinese...) She's essentially a Chinese national brought up in a Chinese city. No surprise she speaks fluent Cantonese. A Chinese immigrant becoming fluent in English requires more talent than this......

@sdkoWing,I haven't overlooked anything. You place TOO MUCH emphasis on a person's physical appearance and ethnicity. Did you ever think that a language can be difficult to learn simply because of one's environment?? I'm ethnically Chinese, but I think simplified Chinese is one of the hardest writing systems to master. White ppl, black ppl, yellow ppl, etc pick up Chinese for business/personal reasons. I pick up English to survive in America. She picks up Chinese to survive in China.

wow, ChipProcessor32, i can't believe you just overlooked the fact that there are relatively few white women that would be willing to pick up Cantonese. i suspect those millions you're talking about are actually themselves Chinese in physical appearance. are you frustrated that Chinese/Asian can't share the same fascination from others (out of speaking English) that this girl is getting?
