Well, not exactly. 'Scuse me while I get white and nerdy: humans share a common ancestral species with all monkeys, though we have a more recent common ancestor with the chimpanzee. Mind you, this doesn't mean that chimps evolved into humans, rather that both our species evolved from a species that was neither chimp nor human, two populations of which were probably separated geographically, thus leading to different developmental evolutionary paths.End nerd rant.
