Your right. There isnt any wind. IF there had been a substantial wind blowing from left to right, that mad fade he put on the ball would have ended up splitting the uprights. Being that there isnt any wind, he knew it would carry over to the right post...and look more bad ass than just kicking the ball straight at the post. I'd say it worked.
