Wow! This brings back memories-saw them in Las Vegas on their 1st tour in late '73/ early '74-warming-up for Black Oak Arkansas. Knew of Ronnie thru Edgar Winter and hadn't even heard the debut album yet. Montrose came out and just blew BOA off the stage - they absolutely smoked! After a 30-40 minute set and two encores, the crowd gave them a standing O and wouldn't sit down. BOA didn't come out for 30-45 minutes. (& the Montrose & BOA roadies were quick to change out the equipment) Smokin'!

This album is wall to wall pure energy!!! Ronnie set the bar SO high with this, he was never quite able to equal or better it. Although, if you're a true Ronnie fan, his Solo Instrumental stuff: Speed of Sound, Territory, Mutatis Mutandis, and GAMMA 2 are up there too. I truly can't think of another guitarist dead or alive who deserves the title "Best under-rated Guitarist" His club shows in the 90's thru current times are legendary in the SF Bay Area. Come out of hiding Ronnie! We need you man!

Nope, this album was simply titled "Montrose" and had the band posed shirtless on the cover.
