The Autobiography of Malcolm X is approved from the district. This teacher was targeted...it is pretty obvious. Also she didn't have tenure and would have received it in September...

I live in Maryland. I once taught Malcolm X in the classroom back in 2001. I taught from a video of one of his speeches. It led to a really good class discussion and the students were engaged. Honestly, I thought that there would be trouble in teaching it, but I never heard from administrators. I'm in agreement with Ms. Salazar. I feel that effective and interesting teaching draws from every aspect of life. It really does inspire critical thinking. Great coverage. |
