i would advise paying the $30 more for the grg 270DX since the guitar is made of better wood. if you absolutely can't save 30$ more the 170 is ok, but the 270 is a better guitar for only a few dollars more.

if you tighten the tuner screws and lubricate the nut slots with graphite you'll never have any major problems with the tremolo even after big nosedives. no guitar stays in tune after huge tremolo usage, the problem with this guitar is the tuners suck. but if you tighten the tuner screws the guitar stays in tune even with trem use.

I meant the tone knob, not the treble my bad.

I've owned this guitar for a few years. The pickups are definitely the worst part about it. However if you play around with it some you can probably get the sound you want. I turn my treble all the way down and use the bridge pickup and get a nice crunchy sound with hardly any feedback. My guitar RARELY gets out of tune, unless I use the whammy bar. The whammy bar really screws it up so I never use it. It's a great guitar otherwise if you like metal.

Is it a good guitar? I here the pick ups are crap and that it tend to go oout of tune. I was thinking of buying it. I don't need an amazing sounding one. Just a decent durable one for practice.
