He's singing in the traditional Bamanan style. Plus African artists don't and shouldn't need to use western singing norms to become popular, Issa Bagayogo's already got a huge fan-base. :)

Issa Bagayogo, Sali Sidibe, Oumou Sangare, Ali Farke Toure...Mali is a treasure trove of great music.
