I would also add to what you said that modern music lacks also: INTROs to songs... Ok, ok, some have intros... 3 sec of intro then noise and rythm based either on very noisy bass beat or something even more annying. : ) Let's hope music won't degrade to plain monotonic voice saying: I love you I'm hurt I love you I'm hurt...

I agree most new music is mostly noise, no hook, no catchy rhythm,no layering, no changing tune or operatic climax, nothing you can hum or care to learn the lyrics-which are mostly unintelligible anyway with the exception of the frequently peppered f- word. Rap seems particularly annoying, just some throwback street poet like the Greenwich beatniks talking over the same monotonous recycled beat thats no more music than my cast iron radiators clanging in the morning when they come up to steam.
