See also my shaving blog at http://mantic59.blogspot.com ! UPDATE: Target no longer sells Proraso. Palmolive no longer produces lather shaving cream (red tube). Would you like a shave so good that you might consider it a pleasant hobby instead of a painful chore?

These videos are on point! I say splurge on a quality DE razor and badger brush...I use the futur kit and it will probably out live me. I also highly recommend a light pre-shave oil, my fav is truefitt and hill...please don't be afraid of the price of any of these items because they all last a ridiculously long time. I also use a natural alum stone (block) which really works well. The fact is a DE razor will last forever, soap soap last about a year and so does the pre-shave oil! ENJOY

Another thing that affects lather quality is water hardness. For harder water you will need mush more soap or cream. Load the brush with just a bit more cream, about the size of an almond, and start to lather. The brush should be damp, but NOT WET. You can always add water, but it;s very hard to remove water. Try it out, and good luck!

I highly recommend Tom's of Maine. It lathers up richly and the mint extract leaves a cool tingly feeling. Available at Whole Foods for $8.00

Hi Mantic,I bought the Crabtree & Evelyn shave cream but I can't seem to produce the same quality of lather that you seem to make in all of your videos. Is there some kind of trick with creams? I have used Proraso shave soap with moderate success.

Hey ManticThanks for posting this videoI used to use a Philips Norelco shaver. It was great and all....really fast but I didn't like the 5pm shadow showing up at 1pm! Wetshaving is the way to go.

I accidentally deleted rahulsarathy82's comment: "now a days it is difficult to find DE razors and badger brush products, but if even if u get one of these in net, you may never know how long these products especially DE blades will survive in the market for the upcoming 10 years or so .Don't u think that big companies like that 3 or 4 blade razors will replace DE razor products completely in another 1o to 15 years are so ?" Personally I think there will always be a niche market.

supchan2- Yes, the principals should apply to shaving any area.
supchan2 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
very nice videos. I'm wondering do these same principals apply to shaving the head. I used to shave everyday in college but it became such a chore. now I look like a balding hippie. My biggest concern is would you happen to know if the products work on course hair. basically i'm a black guy. would like a clean shave but the razor bumps are a killer. currently use clippers when I get around to it. talk about a drag.
