Preface: For those of you who might require an English translation, it is provided in the upper right corner of the youtube window. Click on 'more'. I do not speak and sign at the same time because it is very hard to communicate coherently in two languages at the same time.Thank you everyone for the feedback on my last VLOG. It made me happy, and encouraged to make another one. Right now, it's about six in the morning, and I've been up all night working on some computer programming. I just started a new job three weeks ago, and the job title is 'Malware Analyst'.What I do now is I analyze malware or crimeware. These include viruses, trojans and worms. You know how when you get an email, and you click on a link and you get infected? That's what I research. I take them apart, and figure out how they work, what process they go through. Then I write a report about it.There is so many to look at! Two thousand malware incidents a week! So part of my job is writing programming code to make the process more automatic, to reduce the work that I have to do.The company that I work for is 'SANA Security', it is based out of San Mateo, California. I work and live here in Portland, Maine. It is about as far as you can be and still be in the 48 states! Recently, I visited California for a week to meet my coworkers. It was a really challenging experience without an interpreter. They were willing to provide an interpreter, but it is apparently very hard to get one for meetings on short notice. Next time, I may arrange for Sorenson VRI - video remote interpreting; it is a bit different from video relay service. VRS is for phone, VRI is for meetings in person without phone. I loved the weather in California, and enjoyed walking in San Francisco.Anyways, I should end this, and go relax before passing out.

I'm an ASL 3 student and I like to watch your vlogs because they are really easy for me to understand, and it helps me become a better signer or pick up vocabulary that i havent learned in the classroom. thanks for the videos :D

I get spam in my sidekick 3. How to avoid spam?

I do not speak in my VLOG, beyond the introduction to introduce myself and to explain that there is no speech during the VLOG itself and where to find the text translation. Your lecture is a bit misdirected. :)I cannot do ASL and English myself, but I know that there are a few people that can -- typically these are presenters who have practiced their subject matter so that they can do both. It's a rare skill, though.

Wes, you are not advising nonew3 properly here - you cannot do both ASL & English at the same time - one will suffer & be impoverished & often both languages are impoverished when you do both at the same time - your vlog is a perfect example of this some of your ASL signs are distorted to fit in with the speech and vice versa speech delayed or jumps when you sign. Sorry but this is true - if you want to use signs with speech in a successful way then the only way to do it is in SEE or SimCom.

Looking pretty good there, Wes! What did you loose weight or something? You look different in the face and not because you shaved.
wesbrown18 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Thank you for your kind words. Let me know if there's something I can clarify or help with.

No, I don't use a cochlear implant.

That's not quite true. There are those that are able to speak English and sign ASL at the same time, with much practice. You can usually find these people who give presentations and practice for it. But in most cases, yes, this is true.
